Overview
Overview
CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Registration is the process by which companies or
organizations get formally recognized to contribute to social welfare
activities under the legal framework in India (Companies Act,
2013, Section 135).
It involves registering on a
government-approved platform (like Propus) to:
·       Â
Comply with legal requirements
·       Â
Track CSR activities and spending
·       Â
Allow NGOs/Trusts to receive CSR funding
Â
What is CSR Registration?
CSR
stands for Corporate
Social Responsibility. In India, under Section 135 of the
Companies Act, 2013, certain companies are required to spend a
part of their profits on social welfare activities (like education, healthcare,
environment, poverty alleviation).
CSR Registration
refers to the process of registering a company or organization
to contribute or implement CSR activities, either directly or
via a registered implementing agency.
Key points:
·
Companies meeting certain criteria (net
worth, turnover, or net profit) must spend at least 2% of their average net
profit of the last 3 years on CSR activities.
·
CSR Registration ensures a company’s CSR
activities are tracked, reported, and compliant with
government guidelines.
·
Organizations that want to receive
CSR funding from companies also need registration with the
government.
Purpose
Propus is a portal
or platform related to CSR registration and reporting. In
India, it is often used to:
·
Register
companies for CSR activities
·
Register
implementing agencies (NGOs, trusts, societies, etc.) that want to receive CSR
funds
·
Submit
CSR reports and compliance documents
It acts as a centralized system for
monitoring and managing CSR contributions and projects.
Note: The exact portal
name may vary slightly depending on state-level CSR portals, but “Propus†is a
common name for the CSR management software used by some government
departments.
